Previous winners:

2014: Lydia Loveless - Somewhere Else
2013: Mark Kozelek & Jimmy Lavelle - Perils from the Sea
2012: King Creosote & Jon Hopkins - Diamond Mine
2011: Josh T Pearson - Last of the Country Gentlemen
2010: The Ex - Catch My Shoe
2009: Trembling Bells - Carbeth
2008: Jape - Ritual
2007: Marnie Stern - In Advance of the Broken Arm
2006: Joanna Newsom - Y's
2005: Sufjan Stevens - Illinois
2004: Arcade Fire - Funeral
2003: Martin Finke - Untended Stories

2000: Modest Mouse - The Moon and Antartica

And winner of the song of the year:

(P.S. I listened to hardly any new music this year... So this award might not be quite as definitive as I'm making it out to be)

what aboutany other honourable mentions in the 2015 als awards?

sufjan & colm mac con iomaire albums were contenders for me, as were glen's, julia holter, jape. 2015 a great year for new music, same as the previous 50 years!
