Experiment
In honour of the old days I'll try and kick off an old school conversation - and see who amongst the former heathens, bon viveurs, gastronauts and general cunts and fuck nuggets appear back in dribs and drabs laden down with school fees, nappies menopause vasectomies and varicose veins.
So.........which bands did you get into very quickly and lose interest just as quick? Were the frames amongst them? I find the bands that hit you like a ton of bricks lose their sparkle as quickly - where often the slow builds hold their magic longer.
As the bard said "Wisely and slow, they stumble that run fast".
So to kick off with me I'll go for the Decemberists- What first seemed clever and articulate soon seemed smug and shallow. Tend to skip them now if they crop up on shuffle.
Helloooooooooooooo? ECHO ECHo ECho Echo echo.............

Decemberists
totally agree.
For me also... Avett Brothers - i still clasify them in the 'Like' category but cant bring myself to listen. Also, if I can go one more - The Flaming Lips... have bought a dose of their albums but they are nicely perched beside my Manic Street Preacher phase.
I find this happens with almost every album I hear these days. In the past I listened to albums for months but if an album gets past a 3-4 week mark it's time to introduce it to the parents.

also, Decembrists
and Band of Horses.
There've only been a few bands that have stuck with me for what, 20 years. This lot here that own this place here, Nirvana, Neil Young, The Stone Roses...
Incidentally, I'll go down for murder if they don't play the Picnic.

holy fucking telepathy
I was going to say Band of Horses. And I really think I would have said Decemberists if that had been left as an open question. But here's one more: Death Cab for Cutie. Wildly popular with me and many on this board, and then nothing since then, in Buffy's words, to give a wet fart about.

general cunt reporting for duty
I've fully given up on all things frames. Haven't even heard the last 2 albums in fact. I haven't really been listening to new music the past few years as I've been back playing it myself with a band. I have been listening to Slow Motion Heroes "Hinterland" on loop for the past 3 weeks though. It's magic. The decemberists are a great band though. Totally went off my radar since the crane wife. Am I imagining things or were they on the Simpsons at one stage?? That means you made it big right?

damien rice, had it and he lost it (or my tolerance of needlessly whiney singers grew less & less). another big thing is there's so much amazing music released now i don't listen to albums much more than 3 or 4 times before moving on to something else amazing
