the old debateSo whats worse for you at a gig.

A) People who are loud during a gig from start to finish

B) People who shush talkers during a gig from start to finish.

I am really undecided on which is worse. I guess there are other factors that come into it i.e performer, venue, song etc..

Any thoughts?

Easily (A)You've got 2 situations where people are making noises that annoy the audience.

People in A are self-absorbed to the point that what they're doing benefits nobody but their mates and themselves. It pisses off a LOT of people.

People in B can be argued their self-absorbed to the point of trying to make the gig better for themselves. However, it can also be argued that they're trying to make the gig better for everyone. Ultimately, if they succeed, the gig will be better for all, whether self-serving or not (and I'd argue that it's usually not wholly self-serving).

Without people A, people B wouldn't exist. Without people B, people A would exist more. This is an easy one.

People who talk through gigs piss me off to no-end. Absolutely no excuse. I understand the annoyance of hearing 'shhhhhhhhhh' but it comes at a time when I'm already annoyed by the chatter anyway and I hope it succeeds.

Shushers annoy meI've witnessed people whispering getting shushed in my time. I've witnessed a shusher getting knocked out too. For some reason Frames gigs attract a very annoying crowd (Except for all of us of course ) I honestly don't understand people who go to gigs and talk loudly the whole way through. We went to se Turn last Christmas and there was a group of Girls behind us OMGing out of themselves the whole way through. Why bother paying for a ticket like?

for meI guess it depends on the context a lot.

If its a song that almost demands intimacy and there is some one chattering on then yeah its annoying but i think it can be extra annoying to have a chatter and then a shusher- shush policing the chatter.

However if the bands rocking out a belter loud tune then no issues with someone being noisy..sure everyone gets excited from time to time
